3D is where Merit Animation started and where most of our team lives. It is also the discipline where a studio's process matters most — because rendering is expensive, and re-rendering is where budgets go to die.
Worlds built to move you
We produce five kinds of 3D work, and most projects blend at least two:
- Character animation and rigging. Custom rigs with facial and body controls, animated by hand or driven by motion capture, for brand mascots, explainers and narrative pieces.
- Cinematic scene rendering. Fully lit environments with atmosphere, depth of field and camera language borrowed from film — for launch films, title sequences and OTT promos.
- Product and architectural visualization. Photoreal renders and walkthroughs from CAD, drawings or physical samples — for D2C launches, real-estate marketing and industrial demos.
- Creature and environment design. Concept-to-render design of characters, creatures and worlds for entertainment and games.
- Game-ready 3D assets. Optimised, engine-ready models with LODs and baked maps for Unreal, Unity and web.
Our 3D pipeline
Every 3D project moves through the same milestone gates, and each gate is a sign-off — nothing downstream starts until the upstream stage is approved.
- Style frames. Two or three fully rendered stills that lock look, lighting and mood.
- Animatic. A timed 2D or blocked-3D preview that locks shot count, duration and camera.
- Asset build. Modelling, texturing and rigging, approved on turntables.
- Animation. Blocking, then splined, then polished — reviewed in playblasts at each pass.
- Lighting, FX and render. Simulations, lighting and render passes on the studio farm.
- Comp and delivery. Compositing, grade, sound and masters in every required ratio.
Realism, stylisation, or somewhere between
Photoreal is not always the goal. Some of the strongest brand work we do is deliberately stylised — clean, graphic 3D with flat lighting and bold colour that reads instantly on a phone. During discovery we help you choose where on that spectrum your film should sit, based on the audience, the platform and the budget, and then we prove it in style frames before committing.
Bilingual by default
Films for Indian audiences often need Hindi and English versions, and lip-sync does not survive a straight dub. We plan bilingual delivery in the animatic, record both voice tracks in-house, and animate dialogue shots to each language so neither version feels like the translation.
